Focusing on AI and Film
Part of my focus for the new year is to bifurcate my writing and posts across the various platforms I own so that my diverse followers can share in that focus. So I have started a new blog on my Clowd platform. Not a misspelling. There you will also find specific news stories on AI and Film. So please follow and visit often.
AI Roundup
Companies shouldn’t rush to replace workers with robots. Here’s why
Companies that replace humans with robots “risk losing their competitive edge,” researchers say, as collaboration is the real key. A case in point: Amazon is looking to automate 75% of its operations, which would displace approximately 500,000 human jobs and halt hiring of around 100,000 new Amazon employees. Auto manufacturer Hyundai is following suit, adding 1,000 new robots to work alongside human line workers. The end game, some career experts say, is to curb or even eliminate human staffers, sooner or later. For now, the move represents a huge shift in the 21st-century workplace.
America’s AI Workforce Reckoning: A $4 Trillion Revolution With No Playbook for the Workers Left Behind
The most transformative technology of the 21st century is rewriting the rules of employment across every sector of the American economy — and neither Washington nor corporate America has articulated a coherent plan for the millions of workers whose livelihoods hang in the balance.
AI notetakers are creating HR nightmares
Employers are facing a new workplace hazard: AI notetakers that don’t know when to stop listening. In some virtual meetings, employees drop off the call while an AI assistant stays behind, quietly documenting gossip or disparaging remarks made by remaining employees, then emailing the transcript to the full team.
James Blond by Ulrike Kerber
Congrats to Ulrike Kerber for being our first CLOWD Showcase featured artist. She worked with a hybrid AI-assisted design workflow, combining generative image and video models (e.g. Midjourney, Veo 3, weavy, Runway) with professional post-production tools (Adobe After Effects, Photoshop). AI is used for ideation, previsualization, and aesthetic exploration, and video generation, while authorship, narrative structure, and final decisions remain human-led. Check it out.
Buy the Soundtrack
After working on the Novella for years, I always dreamed of a companion soundtrack to the story. After months of work, here it is. It is mostly instrumental but there are two tracks that I wrote the lyrics to. “Cruisin’ at the Bob’s” and “So Long.” This soundtrack captures the mood, mystery and era that is the setting for Griffin and the Dark Secret.
